Introduction

In the 1970′s I completed a Diploma of Fine Art with a Ceramics major and photgraphy minor.. Now after 40+ years working as an artist and teacher I am still amazed with the process of transforming balls of clay into pieces of pottery.

How paint on canvas can become a powerful symbol and that light and shade of a photograph can create an image that moves our very soul.

The pottery is about centering the human body and making a connection with the clay. My energy and the feel of the clay define the shape of the piece.

I’m a potter and sometimes a sculptor. My work is wheel-thrown and is inspired by the work of the humble production potters and great masters of the craft. I continually strive to create work with classic lines and unique glazes.

There are many ways to paint. There are many ways to see…….the paintings that I make come from my heart. Each piece is another attempt to show the grace, beauty and power of the horse. Every painting gives the viewer a guide but not all the information, the viewer must contribute to the piece by creating some of the story contained in the image for themselves.

My photography has always been about form, shape and contrast, sometimes it is the subjects, other images are more provocative and contrast our concepts and ideas but all endeavour to use classic design. Photography should feature or features something singled out, stressed, or drawn attention to by means of contrast, anomaly, or counterpoint for aesthetic impact.
